In some cases i've noticed that controls in V2 are smaller than in V1 (eg. buttons, links, combobox). I'm using premium data file.

For example, on my Blackberry 9500 (Storm, touch screen) the V2 version is less usable than V1 because controls are smaller. I've also noticed that in V2 (using Premium data) on my BlackBerry 9500 the "MobileDeviceManufacturer" is "Unknown", while in V1 it is correctly identified as "RIM".

May you confirm my findings?

Thank you.

Hi,

We have changed some of the logic related to control sizes. Are you finding the sizes too small, and does there seem to be pattern to devices that have this problem?

As for your Blackberry, can you post the useragent? There may be something particular to your phone's useragent that isn't being matched by the Foundation.

Thanks,
Tom

My Blackberry 9500 (Storm) useragent is:

BlackBerry9500/4.7.0.141 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/132

In the following photo, we have V1 version:

In the following photo, we have V2 version:

All controls are slightly smaller, note that in the combobox in V1 we see full name "rg (Rossi Giuseppe)" while in combobox in V2 the name is truncated "rg (Rossi Giusep...".

At the end of the screen, you can see the useragent and some advanced properties.

For example, in V2 we have "MobileDeviceManufacturer: Unknown" while in V1 we have the correct "Produttore: RIM" ("Produttore" means "MobileDeviceManufacturer" in Italian language).

Thank you.

Hi Fabio,

Thanks for the useragent. Can you try using the latest version of the premium data released on monday? The latest detector site appears to detect the device correctly (see http://demos.51degrees.mobi/detector2...)

I suspect the component size is related to this as the components resize themselves based on the device.

Let me know if the data update helps.
Thanks,
Tom

Sorry, it was my error, i did not copy the premium data, so lite data was used (seen it from log in app_data).

To confirm that the device is now correctly detected in V2, see the two following photos, with premium properties exposed

So, now my BlackBerry 9500 (Storm) is correctly detected, but now i have the opposite problem about the size of the controls: the tappable controls in v2 are larger than in v1 (at least on my BlackBerry).

These are two photos with V2 and premium data:

My opinion is that tappable controls are too large: the size difference between normal text and tappable text is too high.

In V1 i think it was better (see photo):

I observe the same behavior in Keynote's Mite Emulator:

As above said, this is my opinion, i'd prefer less larger tappable controls (actually i've not tested other physical devices with V2, so i cannot give other feedbacks).

Thank you.
