What methods are available for selecting dates?

A modern touch screen Smart Phone is significantly more sophisticated than an older feature phone. Yet for a mobile web application to have the widest possible usage it will need to support both. As a designer you no longer need to cater for the lowest common denominator of mobile device, or ignore a still widely used and popular set of mobile devices.

The 51Degrees.mobi calendar control automatically configures itself to support all the features of the mobile device it's being displayed on. The following screen shots show a calendar control configured to select a single date displayed on an iPhone 4 and a Nokia 3220.

The iPhone 4 version will support all the features of the touch screen, including gestures for month navigation, and a single tap to select a date and navigate to the next page. The Nokia 3220 with it's small screen and keypad interface can't display a grid style calendar, so instead allows the user to enter the date using drop down lists and a select button.

In all instances the underlying application and code is identical.
